Give Yourself a Gift—Shop Local

Holiday season is always special on the Key Peninsula. Our local festivities evoke memories that span more than a century. As each of us prepares to embrace and enjoy—or simply survive— the adventures of the days ahead, our thoughts naturally go to giving both wisely and well.  Christmas Wreath PNG Free Download

One of the best and easiest ways to help the Key Peninsula community is by shopping in the Key Peninsula community. It’s easy, it’s smart, and it helps all of us.

For every dollar we spend locally, 68 cents remains here in our community. Nothing stays when we buy online or across the Narrows Bridge.

Local businesses support more than merchants and jobs. Our schools, churches, social services, Little League and Scouts all depend on their support—the same businesses that support the KP News. Nonprofit organizations like ours receive an average of 250 percent more support from small-business owners than they do from large businesses.

When we buy local, rather than from a nationally owned business, significantly more of our money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers and farms, strengthening the economic base of our community.

Local business owners live in this community and are invested in our collective future. Unique and lively businesses drive property values up, contributing new tax revenue and creating and supporting local jobs, attracting more business and bolstering the growth of our community.

So before you point your car toward the nearest big-box store in Gig Harbor or mall in Silverdale or Tacoma, think of the variety of products and services available here on the KP, and of the value they bring.

The advertisers you see here and throughout the pages of this newspaper every month make the Key Peninsula a better place for all of us. Please let them know you appreciate their support; they make this newspaper possible.
