Beating the Winter Blues
Five years ago on the winter solstice when my husband and I moved to Bainbridge Island from California’s Santa Cruz Mountains, our new neighbors, lifelong Washingtonians, asked how we were going to handle the rain.
“Directions to 12345 345th Avenue Court NW, KPN.”
Try asking Siri to help you navigate the Key by giving her a five-digit house number, followed by a three-digit street number, followed by street or avenue coupled with a court, insert a compass point, then tack on KPN or KPS, and she is so flabbergasted she can’t even apologize.
She just freezes—discombobulated. And in that I am no different from her.
I Wauna Call It Home
Perusing Redfin’s real estate website a year ago, I fell for a gray shingled house with granny green carpet and a Gig Harbor address, hoping it would be the next fixer-home for my husband and me.
