Staff Report

Key Fest planners have set the dates for the annual community fair; July 11-13.

Featured this year will be carnival rides, vendors, live bands and entertainment all day; a beer and wine garden, a food court, a kid zone featuring a trout pond, a petting zoo, reptile exhibit, games and activities, including a scavenger hunt sponsored by Key Pen Parks.

The Peninsula Light Co. is the presenter again this year.

The venue returns to Gateway Park, adjacent to SR-302 in Wauna. The fair will open at 4 p.m. on Friday and close at 11 pm. Weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday.

Volunteers and sponsors are needed before, during and after the fair for planning, set up, daily tasks and tear down.

Planning meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m., at Blend Wine Shop in March and April.

At press time, the committee is planning to mail out admission discount coupons with PenLight utility bills.

Coupons will be given to all students in the Peninsula School District and will be available online at keyfest.com. There will be a coupon printed in the June edition of the Key Peninsula News and available at other locations.

According to organizers, by April, the complete entertainment lineup should be ready to announce. The general admission price has been set at $8. Tickets for children age 12 and younger are $5 and children under 42 inches tall will be admitted free.
