Total Calls: 169 EMS: 109 Fire/service: 16 Other: 44 Aug. 28 Key Peninsula firefighters responded to reports of a car into a tree. A young woman went off the roadway on Cramer Roadd and hit several mailboxes and a tree causing significant damage to her car. The woman was unresponsive and transported to a Tacoma area hospital for treatment. The accident is being investigated by Pierce County Sheriffs Department. Aug. 30 Key Peninsula firefighters responded to a two car crash on State Route 302 near 118th Avenue. One car rear-ended a stopped vehicle with moderate damage. Two people were transported to area hospitals for evaluation. Weather appears to have been a factor in the collision. Sept. 4 Key Peninsula firefighters responded to Minter Elementary School for a 9-year-old male who injured his head while playing soccer at recess. The child sustained a cut to his head and was bandaged at scene and taken to a local hospital for stitches by his parents. Sept. 5 Key Peninsula firefighters responded to the 911 call of a man who had sudden onset of one-sided weakness upon waking. The man stated he went to bed the night before with everything feeling normal. The man was rushed to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of a suspected stroke. Sept. 9 Key Peninsula firefighters responded to a young Lakebay woman who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. The woman had head injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Sept. 11 Key Peninsula firefighters along with members from Gig Harbor, Orting, East Pierce and Browns Point Fire responded to a three acre brush fire. Arriving units saw a large column of smoke and flame and called for additional units rapidly. The fire was contained during the night and crews worked throughout the day Friday to fully extinguish the blaze. There were no injuries and the cause is under investigation.
