Key Center has a new storefront, a medicinal marijuana business called Green Health. The state and federal laws seem to conflict on the issue, and the Tacoma mayor recently suspended a cease-and-desist action for stores there. With the proper documents patients can get it in edible form from Green Health. For now, anyway.

Minter Creek Fish Hatchery is getting ready for Chum season, when the fish ladders will be full. The hatchery sorts the fish by hand, and ripe females are killed and stripped of eggs.

Most of the Key Pen residents were sleeping while Pen Light crews worked to repair a transmission line that left the KP without power Sept. 21. The outage affected 8,100 households.

Christopher Mathie, an artist who lived on the Key Peninsula, said he has switched gears and is not working with pottery. His latest collection of abstract paintings "Coastal Resonance," was partly inspired by his days living on the Key Peninsula.
