COVID-19 Rental Assistance

You may qualify for rental assistance if the COVID-19 emergency impacted your ability to pay your rent, and:

  • Loss or reduction of employment
  • Quarantine or isolation
  • Household income under 50% of Area Median Income (AMI)
  • Reside in Pierce County (outside of Tacoma boundaries)

Applicants must provide the following documents:

  • State identification
  • Lease or rental agreement
  • Proof of income
  • Document from landlord that tenant is behind in rent
  • W-9 completed by the landlord

County Assessor-Treasurer extends property tax due date to June 1

Citing the financial impact of the COVID-19 virus on Pierce County residents, Assessor-Treasurer Mike Lonergan, in coordination with the County Finance Director, has extended the due date for first-half property tax payments to June 1, 2020.  Interest charges will not be assessed on payments made by that date.

Emergency Small Business Relief Loans

Pierce County has created an interest-free loan program to assist small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses applying for loans must:

* Be a business physically located in Unincorporated Pierce County
* Have 10 or fewer employees (including business owner)
* Be in operation for one or more years
* Demonstrate at least a 25 percent reduction in revenues attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic

Public Coronavirus Testing for Eligible Persons Started Saturday March 21 at Tacoma Dome

A drive-through coronavirus testing site has been built at the Tacoma Dome. Beginning Saturday, March 21, first responders, healthcare professionals, those at special risk and those that work with critical public infrastructure (grocery stores, public utilities, etc.) will be eligible for testing.
